Challenges of End-Time Christians (2 Timothy 3:1-5; 1 Timothy 4:12)

Today, we are going to look into a serious topic and see why many Christians fail in the race. Let’s look at this topic: Challenges of End-Time Christians (2 Timothy 3:1-5; 1 Timothy 4:12).

The church had, since her inception, been faced with several challenges such as persecutions, moral and doctrinal pollutions, conformity to the world, etc.

However, the challenges of these end-times are by far multiple folds of what the early Christians experienced. The present times (end-time) are characterized by gross lawlessness, shameless perversions and a wide spread departure from acceptable norms in a sane society. The spate of violence, immorality and social perversions have reached the height that not

only proves that the “zero hours” of the last days are here, but also poses serious challenges to every heaven-bound Christian.

“This know also that in the last days perilous times shall come.’; ‘and because iniquity shall abound that love of many shall wax cold’

Now let’s look into those challenges and see how Apostle Paul enumerates in unmistakable terms, sinful traits that will characterize these end times. Among these are;

1.       Selfishness,

2.       Covetousness,

3.        Boasting,

4.       Pride,

5.       Blasphemy,

6.        Disobedience to parents,

7.        Stubbornness,

8.       . Ingratitude,

9.       Lack of moral restraint,

10.   Pleasure-seeking and so on.

You don’t need to look too far before agreeing with the fact that virtually every segment of the society – religious, educational, technological, social, etc. is marked with these traits.  These days are characterized by wide-spread immorality among teenagers and even children in primary schools are not excluded. The practice of lesbianism, homosexuality, bestiality (immorality between human and animals), and gay marriages is fast gaining grounds and becoming legal in some so-called civilized societies. Transsexuality (male/female undergoing surgery to become like the opposite gender), naturism (practice of nudity both in private and public), porn-viewing, tattooing, sports fanaticism, witchcraft, beauty pageant, drug addition, gambling among other have also festered the society. The media, the internet, smart pones have only served as wheels in amplifying and conveying these evils further to the world.

The end time has posed a serious threat to the Christians, especially the youths who may not know the danger of their action in the world today. In all thanks be to the timely advice from Paul the Apostle to youth to “flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness…” 2 Timothy 2:22.

Dear friend, make sure you go to the Lord in prayer to help you in this end time, knowing that the time is short and in the blinking of an eye the Lord will appear to take His people home, then, where will you spend the eternity.
